EXPERT SYSTEM FOR DESIGN AND CONTROL OF A PRESSURE, PERSONALIZED AND PRECISION IRRIGATION SYSTEM, has been proposed by the evaluation of RETOS commission.
This project is financed by the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness, within the “RETOS” call, and co-financed by the European Union for technological development, innovation and quality research. The beneficiary entities of this aid that will carry out the project are:
Start date of the project: 2018
End date of the project: 2021
Challenges of the Society: Food safety and quality; productive and sustainable agrarian activity, natural resources, marine research and agriculture.
Goals:
The aim of the PreciRiego project is to design and develop an Expert Irrigation System for the application on a plot of precision irrigation.
Currently the cultivation plots are treated as a fixed unit of management where the application of irrigation is carried out in a homogeneous way (in terms of irrigation times and agronomic designs) without taking into account the spatial variability of the factors involved in the management of the crop. . This programming of general irrigation can lead to an important inefficiency in the use of water resources, since there is a wide variability within the plots, mainly due to the heterogeneity of the soil, the hydraulic conditions, the micro-climate, and even the variability itself genetics of the plants, which leads to excesses and defects in the dose of water in different parts of the plot.
Based on this premise and with the aim of providing innovative technological solutions to both water management agencies and irrigators, the PreciRiego consortium proposes the following strategic project, whose purpose is the design and development of new irrigation systems and technologies that quantify and adapt to the existing variability in the plots. In this way, it will be possible to advance in the application, in a precise and zoned way, of the amount of water demanded by a crop according to its specific water needs, the availability of resources, the required production and the quality of the final product.
